Sky Deck

UniLodge finally conquered the tallest building in Melbourne city the Eureka Tower! On the 3rd of October 2009, a group of brave young students towered Melbourne! Standing high and tall above all, the view was spectacular!! A group of us met at 4pm at the reception of UniLodge Melbourne. Everyone was excited and it was a beautiful day to see Melbourne from up above. Light showers were expected but that didn't stop us from going. We took a tram from Melbourne University tram station to Flinders Station. The tram ride was one of getting to know one another and to catch up with friends. As we reached the towering building, we felt so tiny and squinted our eyes to get a better view. Many of us took out our cameras and started snapping away. After organizing the group and getting our tickets for the Skydeck, we were welcomed by a 6 meter long multi-user interactive ‘Serendipity Table’ that explores the stories and history of Melbourne. It was very informative but many of us was fascinated with the technology of it. As we made our way up to the heavens, many of us were amazed at the speed of the lift! It speeds up to 9 meters per second! We then spend some time exploring the view of Melbourne from up above. We spend about an hour or so just hanging out together and enjoying the beautiful view. Unfortunately we didn't get to experience 'The Edge'. It was a very long wait and there were many people that day. But overall we enjoyed ourselves and had fun! As we left Eureka Tower, she gave us a small little present to take home with us, the pressure in our ears from the fast descend to reality. In the end it didn't rain and we had the best view ever! Till our next adventure! ~Samuel Eng
