Melbourne Show

On 23 of September 2009, a group of Unilodgers and I went to the Royal Melbourne Show! The weather was so nice on that day, we departed ariybd 10 at the morning, took a little walk and caught a train to the Melbourne Showgrounds!

It was so crowed in the showground but enjoed the atmosphere there. A few residents jumped on the ride called Sky- rider which spins 360C in almost 30 feet height! I am just too chicken to jump on any ride… (Too bad!!) So I ran to the game stores and played some shooting and basketball games.

We then ran to the animal farm. In there you can see all the cute piggies, dogs, sheep, cows and camels (that is the first time I see a real camel in my life!). You can also have a chance to milk the cow and hug the sheep. You can also see driving pig and racing pig over there, I can’t image the pigs can run so quickly!

By noon time we went to wine tasting and have some lunch in the showground. In there, you can try so many nice wine and cheese. All of us were so tired on the way back home but we really enjoyed the whole day! Now I get to go and eat the candy from my showbag. Can't wait to go again next year - Ada

Comedy Night

The long-awaited Comedy Show is finally here! Despite, the overwhelming waves of assignments to be done and submitted before the end of the week, many enthusiastic individuals still turned up for the event!
We left unilodge for our destination at approximately 7.35pm, spending some time rounding up as many people as possible to go for the event. It was certainly not a night for walking, the weather was terrible. The wind was strong and the rain was highly mischievous, pouring down heavily on unexpecting victims on the streets; the compounded effect of the rain and wind was a truly a force to be reckoned with. Despite having taken the tram down to the city, there was still quite a bit of distance to cover before reaching our destination. We stayed close together, pulling out our umbrellas in a futile attempt to stop the relentless rain from lashing onto our bodies. After about a good 20 mins walk of torture we’re finally there!
The place, Comic’s lounge, was really pretty, it was nothing like what I would have expected. We were allocated to seats around a dining table and were situated very close to the stage where the stand-up comedians performed. Little did we know that the place was a food and laughter paradise; food can be ordered from a menu packed with gloriously scrumptious food- despite the food being slightly pricey (at $15) I ordered a porterhouse steak, the temptations to get something to eat is just irresistible.
The long anticipated comedy show has finally begun. Oceans of laughter emanated from every corner and crevices of the room, the atmosphere was so intense that I couldn’t resist but to laugh along with the crowd. Every member who went for the event had a great time listening to the series of humorous and ingenious jokes, Praveena in particular, was laughing with so much passion throughout the entire show.

The show consisted of 3 sessions of performance, each session has a different set of comedians (each set consisted of about 3-5 comedians) perform for us. The final session, was particularly unique, with an invited guest comedian named Paul Brasch. Shouts of laughter reached a whole new level as his prescence and unceasingly hilarious jokes engulfed and overwhelmed the entire crowd of audiences.
The show finally ended at about 11pm. It was truly satisfying without a shadow of doubt. As we made our way out of the comic’s lounge and back to unilodge, one could not help but notice the smiles of inexplicable joy and satisfaction that was written all over our faces… we were content, very content indeed.
