Chocoholic Tour

On the 1st of August a big group of students made their way to Collins St for the Chocoholic Tour. It was a good thing that we all walked as we started our taste testing at the Chocolate box. From there we went to Haigs Chocolate and Koko Black as we ate our way through some of the nicest chocolates that Melbourne Has to offer.



Our Chocoholic tour guide Deb explained all the diferent chocolates and how they were made while we taste tested everything from pascals to snowbals to truffles (which take 3 days to make). With only a slight interuption to the day with a gay and lesbian protest shouting down the street we ended up at 'The Quater' on Collins which is a nifty little cafe / bar. Here we got to sit down, relax and enjoy a hot or cold drink (most had hot chocolate) and a delicious piece of chocolate pie.

Tell you what, after such a yummy day, we were happy to walk back home to try and justify the sugary goodness that we all enjoyed.

UniLodge Ski Trip

Really early in the morning on the 23rd of July a bus load of adventurous students made their way to Mt Buller.

A combined community spirit event we had residents from UniLodge on Swanston, College House, Swanston, @ Melbourne and Swinburne!

It was a fantastic day up on the slopes with the sun shining and the slopes nice and soft.

3 Residents from @ Melbourne braved the slopes and tried skiing for the very first time (have a look on our You Tube page to see how they went).

I spent the day skiing, face planting into the snow, tobogganing and for the very first time I made a snow man!

Everyone had so much fun that one of the Swanston Residents (not telling who) has since contacted one of our residents for her number! What a great way to make new friends! By the end of the day we were all very tired with most residents falling asleep on the bus ride home.

Can't wait for next year!

UniLodge Idol!

As some of you may have witnessed we held our first UniLodge Idol contest on teh 22nd of July!

This was a fantastic event with a massive karaoke machine installed in the @ Melbourne tv room ready for the night to come. The lounge was packed and full of anticipation as we waited for everyone to arrive. Soon our celebrity judges from UniLodge on Swanston (Brett Hohn and Daniel Robertson) arrived as did the Pizza for our 'audience'. But it wasn't until Haozhen arrived (the receptionist for Campus, D1 and D2) that the party started!

Unfortunatly, most residents were too shy to get up and have a go, so Haozhen and I took turns having a great time until we had our first contestant.

Finally we had Phalgu, Mike (Lizhun), Nirupa and Richard pick up the microphone to have a crack at the coverted Idol trophy and mp3 player for first prize.

Mike entertained us all with his Michael Jackson Moon Walk which earned him the prize for the 'most enthusiastic' contender!

In the end though, the decision was unanimous. Congratulations to Richard Liman, the UniLodge Idol for 2009!
